A Little Dose of Inspiration

December 8th, 2007 by Lauren | No Comments | Filed in Quotes and Such

I have seen this quote before, and even though I’ve already left it in my blog at My WAHM Space, I thought it would be a good one to post here as well. You’ll see me do this from time to time, cause sometimes I find that someone else can say it better than I can! LOL!

Learning HTML - one smart move

December 4th, 2007 by Lauren | No Comments | Filed in Websites

Honestly, one of the smartest things I think I have ever done since starting online is learning HTML. I would recommend to any WAHM who even does just the basics online that they learn some basic HTML.

I found I needed this knowledge from the get go with my TLC Consultant website because I am able to customize the top part of it. When I first started, I just had the most general of text there… “Welcome to my website” - no images, or links - very generic, and frankly kind of bland. I used the HTML Editor the company suggested and thought it was cool that I could create the page in Word, copy the text into it, and with a click of a button it transformed my text into html code for me to insert into my webpage template. But when it came time to modify it…I was lost!

Fast forward to my first official website, made from scratch, Mom’s Online Retreat. It was one thing for me to use the html editor for my consultant site, but I found that it just wasn’t practical for me to use it to build my website - thus I needed some resources. I had purchased The Direct Sales Success Kit earlier, so my first guide was the bonus that comes with it, the “Step by Step Guide to Starting Your First Website”. Kara gives great instruction for using NoteTab Lite, which was a free download from http://www.notetab.com. Gotta love the free downloads, and it’s all I’ve ever needed. Well, that and some help from HTMLgoodies.com, which is a great resource to have for html tricks, and tutorials.

My knowledge of HTML is nowhere near expert status, but at least if there is a problem with the HTML Editor in WordPress (and I’ve experienced them before) or when I want to leave a website link somewhere - I know the work-around.  And that is always a good thing!
