Back at Mom’s Online Retreat
She’s my baby – my very first website. I go weeks at a time working on the site – updating everything, freshening it it up, but am so bad about actually staying up-to date! Mom’s Online Retreat still has so much room for growth! It’s evolved as I have online, and with my higher speed on the internet I’m finally finding the time to bring her back to life!
I had to take down the Scrapbook Shoppe as I am no longer with TLC, but have added a new Home Spa Shoppe (a desire of mine for awhile) and am featuring the handmade/homemade bath and body products created by a fellow Mom, and owner of The Scented Tub. For now, I’ve listed the HomeSpa Shoppe in my side navigation at Mom’s Online Retreat, and in the Retreat Shoppes Directory. The full line of products is available for purchase through my links to the store. Soon though I will have a HomeSpa Shoppe page that will feature some specials of my own, from Mom’s Online Retreat. I’ve got some specials in mind just in time for the holiday shopping season.
Oh, wait that seems to have already started! LOL!
There are lots of ideas I have for building up The Shoppes at Mom’s Online Retreat – next will be the Holiday Shoppe, which I plan to keep open all year round, and to round them off will be the Greeting Card Shoppe. Posts for the near future.

Trick or Treat – Smell My Feet
A little background. Son #1, age 7, has been making up songs, and drumming with paint sticks on our old couch since he was 3. He’s actually pretty good, with his rhythm (always a rock and roll beat) and the tunes/lyrics he comes up with. Sometimes they can be a good glimpse into what’s going on in his mind, very telling.
The other day he announced that I might notice his songs changing a little bit, because now that it’s Halloween his songs may sound a little more spooky. He then went on to let me know that there are only 2 times during the year that his songs will change – Halloween and Christmas. You’d love his rock n roll version of Jingle Bells!
No school today – so I’m listening to his newest Halloween song which he prefaced with “This one is more of a sill Halloween song. It’s called ‘Trick or Treat – Smell my Feet”! I had to stop what I was doing to share that here! He’s come up with words, a new tune and I’m just amazed at how well he does with something off the top of his head.
Proud Mom moment!
Prepping My Schedule for Summer
It’s been coming at me – the reminders that now is the time to get ready for summer, figure out how to balance work with the kids at home. Not to mention that summer is just naturally more of a laid back season online with everyone out enjoying the weather, the long daylight hours, warm summer nights. Oh, I can’t wait! But the reality has set in, and my planning can’t wait either.
Reality is…Batman (7) will be done with school on June 10th. I’ve already been looking into free/low cost options of things to do this summer – we’ll hit the library (even Batman’s school library will be open one morning a week), school playground is a nice walk away.
Reality is…I’m not going to have as many daytime hours to work as I do with only Robin at home. The two boys together are at least at an age that they can entertain each other at times. And each plays well on their own too. But I’m not going to want us to be staying home all day every day.
The challenge will be balancing work, play, and “sneaky academics”! LOL! I’m doing my research – WAHM blogs are a great source of ideas, esp. at this time of year as the reality sets in for all of us – GET READY, THE KIDS ARE COMING HOME!
